[Screencaps of Sophia from The Golden Girls with subtitles reading “Jean is a nice person. So, she happens to like girls instead of guys. Some people like cats instead of dogs. Frankly, I’d rather live with a lesbian than a cat. Unless the lesbian sheds. Then I don’t know.”]

  9. Bi/pansexuals are part of the gay community too.

Today I was at pride. And it was awesome. After I got back I was telling a friend (who happened to be gay) how awesome it was, and she saw the shirt I got that said “Born This Gay”. She then proceeded to inform me that I shouldn’t wear the shirt because I’m not gay.

I’ve gotten this kind of thing from lots of people in the gay community and I think it’s utterly infuriating. For a community that tries so hard to promote acceptance and equality, so many people exclude bisexuals, pansexuals, and others who are deemed “not gay enough.”

We’re all queer. We all deal with the stereotyping and discrimination. Some of us even have to get it from other LGBT people. Let’s try to include all of our queer brothers and sisters. Sound good?
